Driving Elite
Gamification Project at Astrata Europe
During my internship at Astrata Europe, I got the opportunity to work on a project which purpose is to engage truck drivers in their daily work to drive more economical in real life.
My responsibilities during this project were:
Project Lead
Game Design
Programming
Interaction Design
Graphics & Animations
How it works
This game is made to motivate truck drivers in developing a more economical driving behaviour. Drivers chose their own tasks on which they will work. A task contains of the three properties Amount, Type and Distance. A truck can only carry a certain amount of cargo at a time, which means that players must find out for themselves which tasks they want to take on. The type of cargo determines the bonus rewards. The distance the driver covers is tracked via GPS and translates the drivers progress into the game. While driving, the game records driving behaviour which determines how successful the driver was on his task. The better his driving behaviour, the better his rewards.
The currency that players are rewarded with for completing tasks, can be spend on truck modifications and truck performance improvements.
On the drivers profile, the current skill and driver statistics are summarized and displayed. The colours support the feedback to the player.
